We Can Speak for Ourselves

Book

This is a formative book on the development of the self advocacy movement (mainly in the US and Britain). It tells the story of two schemes in the US - People First of Oregon and Project 2 of Nebraska- and accounts of similar projects in Britain. In doing so, it highlights the foundations and nature of self advocacy and its place in the rights based movements of the last 20-25 years. Keywords: Advocacy, Self Determination
