The writer describes strategies to help better prepare students for the transition from school to work. She suggests that when getting started, the student should be involved in the preparation of a truly person centred plan. It is suggested that consideration also must be given to the nature of the "team" that will be required to help meet the plan goals, the strengths and weaknesses of the student and the need to be flexible during job placements.
