Promises to keep: Participatory research and the meaning of adulthood for persons with disabilities

Written Material

This is a short talk given at the 1994 TASH Conference concerning a research project about the meaning of adulthood for persons with significant disabilities. What is unique about this project is that it involves individuals with disabilities as co-researchers at all phases of the project. The researchers also aim to look at the ramifications of such a project for transition support and planning, along with broader strategies of empowerment. This talk therefore also touches upon the ethics of research and professional practice. Also included is a reference list of books and articles about participatory research.
