Options in Community Living

Book

"This notebook contains a series of informational papers that describe Options in Community Living, a supported apartment program for people in Madison, Wisconsin....We don't pretend that the Options model is the best or only way to provide residential support services....(but) We hope that sharing our knowledge and experiences through these papers will bring greater attention to the potential of supported apartment programs and will be of practical benefit to others who are designing or working on this type of service. There are six papers, each describing Options from a different angle", including an overview of Options, description of administrative structures and funding, responsibilities of staff and hiring, training and evaluation procedures, fundamental principles that have guided service practices, how Options has helped people build positive relationships, and ways Options has extended its services to people with more severe disabilities.
