Annette Herbert, a mother, tells a series of anecdotes about sharing life with her 19 year old daughter, Renee, and helping her overcome the challenges of her disability to lead a fulfilling life. With the help of her mother and support workers who encourage her independence, Renee attends TAFE, enjoys line-dancing socials and participates in her local community. Renee's voice and insights form part of the narrative. ,,Herbert briefly discusses her role in advocacy work as a member of the Whatever It Takes Working Party (Adelaide disability advocacy group).
