All in the Family: Issues to consider when developing family-based respite care programs for disabled children

Book

This paper is based on the premise that children with disability who already live at home and are able to cope with a family life, do not 'need' to live, even for a short time, in any form of staffed residential accommodation. The paper puts forward a solid argument for family-based respite care. In doing so, it draws on the findings of a Victorian study into the respite care needs of families undertaken in 1988 (see File No. 3073 by the same author). Keyword: Respite
