Normalisation, community care and the politics of difference

Written Material

A rather academic article, but useful for its analysis of why difference cannot be tolerated in a capitalist structure. Using a feminist and post-colonial framework, the authors argue that the celebration of difference that radical politics calls for cannot be heeded by a society founded on the imperative of labour as a vital force in economic relations. Such a view of the labour force limits people's abilities to be able to view jobs in a different way. Keyword: Self determination
