Widening the Circle - The Power of Inclusive Classrooms

Book

Widening the Circle is a passionate argument for creating school and classroom environments where all students are welcomed on equal terms. Professor of Inclusive Education in the Teaching and Leadership Department of the School of Education at Syracuse University, New York, Mara Sapon-Shevin, articulates a vision of inclusion as a practical and moral goal. Inclusion, she argues, should not begin with the assumption that students have to earn their way into the classroom with their behaviour or skills. Rather, it is the right of every student to be in the mainstream, with whatever modifications, adaptations, and support in required. Full inclusion requires teachers to think about all aspects of their classrooms
