Written Material

This article helps us understand why advocacy is - and will always be - important in the lives of people with developmental disability. While people with developmental disability share the same vulnerabilities as everyone else in our society, they have even less power to deal with them. This article outlines the many factors which make people with developmental disability vulnerable, including lack of power and isolation. The attitudes of society and service providers contribute to many of the factors identified. Keywords: Attitudes, Advocacy
