There's more to life than traditional employment

Written Material

This is a really interesting article about the way 'employment' has traditionally been defined. Strict definitions of 'employment', 'employable' etc. tend to marginalise whole numbers of people including people with disabilities. The author also argues along similar lines about the term 'recreation'. He argues that by paying more attention to the more informal sectors of the economy, we can do both these things; we would start to see recreation in a different light and we could make a far greater number of opportunities available to people normally classified as 'unemployed' or 'unemployable'.
