The struggle for citizenship

Written Material

Barton argues that people with disabilities are being denied their human rights and the rights of citizenship. This is an outcome of their being denied a voice except on particular issues which affect them. Barton maintains that disability is a political and social category and like other minorities its members are marginalised. Barton also mentions those who are marginalised within the disability movement such as women and people of colour. Keywords: Social Role Valorisation
