The Salamanca Statement on Principles, Policy and Practice in Special Needs Education

Written Material

The Salamanca Statement is a reaffirmation of the right of every individual to education by delegates of UNESCO's World Conference on Special Needs Education. The delegates represent 88 governments and 25 international organisations. The statement includes: what the delegates believe, what action is required by governments and the international community to facilitate inclusive education and what role the United Nations and its specialised agencies are to play. The Statement was written in conjunction with the "Draft Framework for Action on Special Needs Education". This is also in the Inclusion Collection. (File number: 10794).
