The Higher Education Transition Model: Guidelines for facilitating college transition among college-bound students with disabilities

Written Material

The authors suggest that preparation for higher education for students with disabilities should be based on the 'Higher Education Model'. This model incorporates psychosocial preparation, academic development (including goal setting and learning strategies) as well as college/community orientation. While these guidelines have been written to guide educators in the USA, they provide sound advice to educators and parents involved with preparing students for university or TAFE.
