This paper draws attention to the lack of uniformity and inconsistencies existing between various state laws and the commonwealth law governing the sterilisation of children in Australia. A summary of the recommendations in the Family Law Council's report on sterilisation of children is given. These recommendations point to the need for appropriate legislative reform of the Family Law Act. Keyword: Legal
