Reports, Records and Parental Control

Written Material

Children with disability inevitably have reports written about them. In this article Carrie Longinotti gives pointers to parents on how to ensure that the report-writing process used in medical, educational and social service systems serves their child's best interests. She suggests that it is important to try and understand reports, to access as much written information held on your child as possible and to always keep a copy of reports. She also encourages parents to become involved in the report-writing process where possible and to make sure that inaccuracies are corrected. Keyword: Families
