Rehabilitation in India

Written Material

Two organisations in India organised a team visit by eight people from the US involved in the disability 'field'. One of this team spoke of India as a land of contrasts; within the disability field there is a great contrast between services being provided (often segregated, often lacking and often dominated by a large and ineffective bureaucracy) and what professionals and students know philosophically (the need for more resources which focus more upon community supports). The author writes that there are many positive things just waiting to happen but that people needed support and information from around the world about the way they can put their values and philosophies into action.
