Pride & prejudice

Written Material

Pride in identity is a crucial part of any human rights movement. Parsons asserts that the disability movement has not yet achieved 'disability pride'. He argues strongly that the disability movement needs to find a way of challenging existing social values by asserting pride not just in their own identity, but in disability itself. While this is a daunting task, Parsons says that this is what it needed if people with disabilities are to seriously challenge the status quo. Keyword: Advocacy
