Parents Perspective

Written Material

This mother writes passionately of her son's attendance at his local pre-school and how she wants this to be possible for all children (in this sense, inclusion is not just about 'disability', but about 'diversity'). She writes about what she wants; "I want him to learn to function in the real world, with all its inherent risks and demands. Joel needs to learn all the grotty things that little kids do in school...I look forward to him standing up at assembly and saying one carefully rehearsed line in a school play. I want him to go to birthday parties, and to pester me to buy him trendy toys." Keywords: Inclusion, Pre-school aged
