Negotiating Supports - One Family's Experience

Written Material

People with disability want to have the same opportunities as their able-bodied peers. They do not want live with another person because of a shared label. An organisation called Homes West offered Sarah and her family the opportunity to have full control over where Sarah lived and who supported her, so that she could live independently. Sarah had the chance to make friendships and soon her life started to look similar to that of any other 25 year old. Keywords: Friendship, Accomodation, Families, Individualisation
