I Always Wanted to be a Tap Dancer

Book

Twelve women with disabilities (physical, intellectual and psychiatric) talk about growing up and living in a world where their disabilities mean that they have to fight to be accepted. The book is two books in one; the stories of this group of women lead into an innovative guide to solving problems and finding out about ourselves. The interviews show that there is no one experience of disability; each woman's relationship to herself and her environment is mediated by a whole range of life experiences and relationships, people and situations.
