While this is quite an old monograph, most of the issues and ideas it presents are relevant today (although the statistics are not!!). The themes of community living, inclusion and appropriate support run through the different articles, which range from the views of a parent to strategies for working with older people living in their community. Within this framework, we are able to see the value of our elders, as one author writes "It is not a matter of promoting new programs - it is an opportunity to learn about the quality of life from those who have lived it "(emphasis added, p.26).
