Families and Cultural Diversity

Book

The Australian population is drawn from over 100 different cultures. This book, while not specifically mentioning disability, provides a basis for understanding the diversity of families and family life in Australia. Key groups examined are: Aboriginal, Anglo-Celtic, Chinese, Filipino, Greek, Italian, Latin American, Lebanese and Vietnamese. The book examines the differences between recent and older immigrant groups, the choices families are making in response to changing social and economic environments and how this affects relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and older people and their adult children.
