Anti-Bias Curriculum: Tools for Empowering Young Children

Book

Children develop biases against people of colours and cultures other than their own, and against people with abilities different from their own. At an early age children have ideas about what boys are "supposed" to do and what girls "can't" do. This is why it is necessary to develop an anti bias curriculum. Teachers and parents often inadvertently teach their own biases. It is important for them, therefore to examine their own possible biases and learn how they may influence children. This practical book shows adults how to stand up for what's right and how to empower children so they can too. Keywords: Education, School age, Attitudes, Professionals
