Acknowledging Barriers in Adopting Person-Centered Planning

Written Material

How should organisations go about adopting person-centred planning? This article explores some impediments to person-centred planning by organisations. The authors believe that it is important for organisations to discuss the ambiguities and barriers that arise, and that such discussion can reveal areas where a more flexible approach is needed, leading to better outcomes for individuals. They encourage organisations to rely on principles rather than regulations and to take full advantage of the ideas and expertise of their staff members. Keyword: Individualisation, Professionals
