A Plea to Government Funders: A story of hope and expectations

Written Material

A parent describes her 24 yr old daughter, who enjoys a full and varied life despite significant disabilities. The parent also talks of the concerns which led to her daughter's move away from a day service to individualised support. This has allowed her daughter to access a variety of community activities through generic services. This decision, together with the family's desire to see their daughter supported to move into her own accommodation, has seen the family experience the uncertainty that comes when governments fail to recognise the needs of people with disabilities and their families.
