Disability advocacy services, including Family Advocacy, are stepping up our “Stand By Me” campaign for permanent funding with the announcement of an important rally in Martin Place on Sunday 24 February from 11am to 12pm.
Currently the NSW state government continues to hold on to the position that we may not need disability advocacy services, refusing to commit to funding disability advocacy beyond 2020, with some advocacy organisations losing their funding as early as July 2019. This is both alarming and tremendously uninformed. By attending the rally, you will be helping convey the message, loud and clear, that this decision needs to be reversed and that the state government needs to ensure that disability advocacy funding becomes a permanent fixture within NSW.
Featuring speakers from various disability advocacy organisations talking about this crucial issue, as well as politicians from across the spectrum, the rally is also your opportunity to catch some great musical entertainment, and maybe snag a Stand By Me supporter t-shirt. Bring family and friends along – the more, the mightier.
When? Sunday 24 February 11am - 12pm
Where? Martin Place Amphitheatre (between Castlereagh St and Pitt St)
