Advocacy and the NDIS

Despite the fact that the NDIS aims to give people with disability more flexibility and control, advocacy is just as important as ever. This is because power still resides largely with those groups implementing change – the government, the bureaucracy, and non-government service providers.

Family Advocacy runs a variety of workshops, events, conferences, information sessions and webinars specifically designed for families, friends and allies of people with developmental disability. We regularly travel across NSW delivering our free 'One of the Kids' inclusive education workshops for parents of children with disability.

Do not forget to think about the typical considerations of choosing a school such as; where brothers and sisters go to school; which school their friends will go to; what school does the preschool feed into; are there good state, catholic and independent schools nearby.
