Family Advocacy runs various
workshops and events across NSW designed to strengthen and empower families and allies of people with disability.
Our work reflects the belief that advocacy by families and allies of people is the most important method of promoting people's rights and interests and providing protection from potential neglect and abuse.
Our workshops aim to:
- bring families together;
- help families to identify and create a new vision about the life of the person with a developmental disability in their family;
- develop advocacy-related skills and strategies around issues impacting on their family member with disability (These issues may include achieving mainstream education, accommodation, leisure or work).
