Systems Advocacy

Working to change the system – Systems Advocacy
The systems advocacy work of Family Advocacy aims to remove barriers and facilitate opportunities for children, young people and adults with disability to lead good lives as active members of their community.

The focus on action is to enable:

  • children and young people to grow up in families that are properly supported;
  • children and young people to be welcomed and educated in the regular class of the local neighbourhood school with appropriate support;
  • school leavers, young people and adults with high support needs to have personalised, effective opportunities for valued participation and ongoing education;
  • families to have a stronger voice at the systemic level;
  • people with developmental disability to have their rights and interests promoted and protected by independent advocacy in NSW;
  • state and commonwealth governments, politicians and bureaucrats to be committed to supporting inclusive lives for people with disability as a priority.
